MALDIVES

... Fantastic view of a tropical ☼ paradise ☼... with 87 resort islands located in an idyllic setting... amazing turquoise reefs... white sandy beaches and palm trees... known as a spectacular place for diving with an abundance of marine life... this must be the perfect ❅winter❅ escape!!
... Unfortunately it's not all good news☹... for the Maldives, climate change and a rising ocean level is a very real threat, with a handful of islands already evacuated due to the rising ocean waters that have interfered with fresh water sources... Thanks sooooo much Kenny en Joni for thinking of me while on honey moon there...(✿ ♥‿♥)

Maldives is an island nation in the Indian Ocean made up of 1,192 coral islands (about 200 inhabited) grouped in a double chain of 26 atolls.

The Maldives have some of the smallest islands in the world with no more than a few square meters size. The largest island barely reaches 6km long and it also owns the title of the lowest country in the world with an average of only 1.5 meters above sea level.

Malé is the capital city of the Maldives. The total area of the island is 6 km2 and considering the amount of people living on one m² it is described as one of the most populous cities of the world.
